Pohick church is a very friendly and welcoming Episcopal Church congregation meeting in a historic colonial church building complete with pew box seating and visitors may ask an usher to place them in the George Washington or George Mason pew boxes. Upon arrival to the church an usher will greet and seat you and answer any questions you may have. Our services follow the liturgy laid out in the bulletin and based on the Book of Common Prayer.
Restrooms, the Nursery, Sunday School classes, the fellowship hall and church offices are located in the Parish House across the courtyard from the church building. Coffee hour is held in the fellowship hall after Sunday services so please stop by to say hello.
Pohick church offers Sunday school classes between our 8am and 10:30 (Sept – May) services and 8am – 10am (June-August) services. A children’s nursery is available from 7:30 until 12:30 with an experienced attendant. You may enter the Parish house with your children where you can be directed to the appropriate classroom. If you’re in the church and are seeking a Sunday School class or nursery ask an usher for assistance.
We also offer Children’s Church starting at 10:30 (Sept – May). The children are brought to the church in time to participate in taking the Eucharist or receiving a blessing by the Priest with their family.
In the summertime, (June-Aug) Pohick offers children’s Bible story hour in the Parish house beginning at 10am. The story hour ends in time for the children to come into the church to participate in taking the Eucharist or to receive a blessing by the Priest with their family.
Pohick church is not fussy about personal attire; however personal attire should be respectful. Men should not wear a hat inside the church. People tend to dress up for Sunday services.
You may call our church office (703) 339-6572 for information or as a first time attendee to our service you may fill out a visitor card. Your visitor’s card will be given to the Priest for follow-up and also (if you desire) your personal information will be entered into our church data base. This will allow Pohick church the ability to share information of our upcoming church events.
Pohick church offers Docent led tours immediately following the 10:30 (winter) Sunday service and during the summer at 10am. If you are interested in a Docent tour, inform an usher and they will ensure the assigned docent volunteer is provided. The Pohick docent group also offers tours open to the public the first Saturday of the month from 1pm to 3pm. If you want to arrange a group tour, please call the church office for further contact information (703) 339-6572. The church is open for self-guided tours weekdays from 9am to 4pm.
Parking is available in three seperate locations as seen on this map. There is a small lot located off of Old Colchester Rd. adjacent to the courtyard. On the opposite side of the sanctuary there is a small road between the church building and the cemetary where handicap spots as well as a limited number of regular spots can be found. At the bottom of the hill is a larger parking area.
