SUNDAY Events

  • 7:45 am to 11:45 am: The Nursery will be open and an attendant will be on site.
  • Golden Dove Gift Shop is open today from 11:30am – 12:30 pm.
  • 9:15 am: New Member/Inquirers Class- Daniel and Rev. Ted will be offering an 8-week class for anyone interested in becoming a member of Pohick Church. The series will focus on scripture, church history, Anglican theology, and Liturgy. Classes will be on Sunday mornings at 9:15am in the Vestry House. The class is open to prospective new members and to anyone who would like a refresher on the history and beliefs of Episcopal/Anglican Christians. If you are interested in joining Pohick Church, please reach out to Rev. Daniel via email at dcenci@pohick.org.
  • During the Sunday School hour in addition to the inquirers class, we will be offering a lectionary-based Bible study in the Parish Hall Annex. Marleen McCabe will be leading the bible study this Sunday and Next Sunday.

  • The Martha Guild Wine Tasting will be held on Saturday, May 16 from 5 - 7 pm at the home of Terry & Marc Abrams. Alcoholic & Non-Alcoholic wine, great food, great fellowship! Tickets will be available starting April 26 during Coffee Hours. Come join the fun!
  • 9:15 am-10:15 am: Church School: Preschool through fourth grade. Parents, please pick up your children at the door of the classrooms. 
  • 9:15 am in the Nursery: Grace Space (18–36-month-olds with parent or grandparent)
  • 10:20 am Classroom D: Children’s Chapel, parents can drop off preschool-2nd graders
  • 6:00 pm: EYC (5th – 12th graders)

  • The Ann Mason Guild thanks you for your purchases at our recent jewelry sale-and for your donations of jewelry for the sale.
  • EYC PLANT SALE: Various vegetable and herb plants are available for sale in the courtyard (Thank you Terry and Marc Abrams!). All plants are $5. Please come by during the week to purchase. All proceeds will go to EYC events and mission.
  • Lent Madness Update: Thanks to all who participated in this year's Lent madness forum. After weeks of discussion, Pohick has selected Peter the Apostle as the Saint who most embodies Pohick Church.  
  • Shrine Mont Parish Family Weekend Registration Begins! TODAY in the Parish Hall. The dates for our Parish Family Weekend are 26 to 28 June.   For assured rooms registration is highly encouraged before or on 17 May. After that date rooms may not be available due to limited availability.

  • Our regular Sunday Services are at 8 am (Rite I Eucharist spoken) and 10:30 am (Rite II Eucharist sung). Christian Education for all ages begins at 9:15 am. YOUTH (EYC) 6pm Sundays.

THANK YOU! Pohick Church's LCAC donations -- Since the beginning of the year, we have collected more than 1,600 pounds of food and essentials valued at about $3,150 for the Lorton Community Action Center.

·     COMPUTER SCAM – Several parishioners received emails from a scammer purported to be from Rev Daniel from a bogus email account. Please do not respond to these suspicious emails. Pohick Staff, Vestry members, and Clergy would not reach out in this manner. 

 

 

·         A special thank you to the Brotherhood for providing Pohick Church with Forward Day by Day quarterly issues. The latest issue, which includes daily reflections that follow the Bible verses, is available in the Parish House.

 

·        The Pohick Chapter of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew invites all the men and youth of Pohick to attend any of our Saturday 8:00 am meetings for fellowship, breakfast, discussion of issues we are working on to support Pohick, and about 20 to 30 minutes of bible study.

 

 

·       Volunteers needed for hosting Fellowship Coffee Hours—Coffee Hour is after both the 8 am and the 10:30 am Church services every Sunday. See the signup sheet in the Common Room for the details. ·       Pohick Church welcomes the Down By the Riverside Group of AA, Tuesdays at 8 pm in the Annex room. Contact the Parish office for information.

 

·       Docent tours! Guided Tours by members of the Docent Guild are available each Sunday after the 10:30 am service. Guided Tours are also available on the first Saturday of every month from 1 pm to 3 pm. Please meet the Docent at the Great Font for a tour. Self-guided tours are always available when the church is open, weekdays 9 am to 4 pm.

 

Healing Hearts: Grief Support Group

 

Have you been recently widowed?

Have you recently lost a family member or beloved friend?

Are you or someone in your inner circle coping with a difficult health diagnosis or treatment?

 

Pohick’s Healing Hearts grief support group offers a safe, confidential space that connects you with others who understand the range of emotions that you may experience as you process and integrate your loss and grief into day-to-day living.

Marleen McCabe is Healing Hearts facilitator. She is a member of the Trauma Incident Reduction Association and has received extensive training in the transformative power of grief, loss, and bereavement.

Healing Hearts meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays from 10:30 am to noon in Classroom C.
