Hiring a Sunday Morning Nursery Attendant

 

Pohick Episcopal Church in Lorton, Virginia, is seeking a warm, caring, and dependable individual to serve as a Nursery Attendant on Sunday mornings. This position involves caring for children ages 6 weeks to 3 years old in a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment where they feel secure and comfortable while separated from their parents. Responsibilities include ensuring the safety and well-being of all children; providing age-appropriate care, including feeding, diaper changing, and engaging children through play, games, stories, and prayer; and maintaining a clean, organized nursery before, during, and after each shift. The Nursery Attendant will work collaboratively with volunteers, parents, and church staff to support the ministry and mission of the church.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Post-secondary education preferred
  • CPR certification, including AED and infant, or higher
  • Available Sundays between 8:30 am and 12:30 pm
  • 18 years old or older
  • One year of experience working with multiple toddlers and/or babies
  • Satisfactory completion of a background check
  • Strong communication skills
  • Able to carry at least 30 pounds
  • Able to squat/sit on the floor, bend over, and carry children while walking
  • Dependable attendance
  • Three references

Pay: $20 per hour
