The Rev. Deacon Michele Causton

2021-2022 Pohick SeminarianVirginia Theological Seminary

In September 2021, Pohick will welcome our new seminarian, The Rev. Deacon Michele Causton. A middler at Virginia Theological Seminary, Michele will be supervised by Rev. Lynn in her Contextual Ministry (Field Education). She will be supported by a Lay Convener Group chaired by Kathy Kirkland.

In addition to learning administrative and preaching skills, Michele’s learning goals include establishing and equipping a Military Family Support Group at Pohick, based on a format she has introduced successfully at other churches. Rev. Lynn was thrilled to learn that Michele had implemented a template for a Military Support Group. Creating a Military Family Support Group for Pohick and the surrounding community was an objective Rev. Lynn proposed in the 5-Year Strategic Plan.

Michele comes from a family of military veterans, including her son who is actively serving in the Army. Michele earned her undergraduate degree in Philosophy with a concentration in Education at East Stroudsburg University, Pennsylvania. Michele was ordained a permanent deacon in her hometown of East Stroudsburg, PA, on January 18th, 2018. Along the way, she discerned a call to the priesthood, became a postulant, and entered VTS last fall.

She has 2 adult children, Elizabeth and Joseph. In her leisure time, Michele enjoys spending time in the mountains where she lives engaged in hiking, fishing, and drawing.
