EYC – Episcopal Youth Community

EYC – Episcopal Youth Community

The Pohick EYC youth program consists of three youth groups for different ages: 5th & 6th grades, Junior High, and Senior High. They participate in weekly meetings focusing on building healthy Christian relationships and nurturing their spiritual life. Additionally, the youth participate in service projects, trips, retreats, and other various local and national community projects. The usual meeting time is on Sunday evenings in the Parish House. There are over 30 youth currently active in EYC and anyone in grades 5th-12th is welcome.

Activities and Events

During the school year, regular EYC meetings occur after the 10:30 am service on most Sundays. If you are interested in discovering the excitement of EYC, please contact the Youth Minister. Holidays and other events sometimes cause this general pattern to be different, so check the church calendar for updates.

  • Greetings Pohick! This year, for our EYC Advent Outreach, we will be supporting Operation Shoebox, which is the following:

Located in Belleview, Florida, Operation Shoebox embraces a practical mission of providing hands-on support for our troops deployed overseas and returning home. Operation Shoebox’s mission is to meet every hero’s needs with dignity and appreciation. Whether it looks like packing coffee, socks, toothpaste, and sports gear into care packages or sending letters of encouragement, like organizing fundraisers or collecting supplies for homeless veterans, Operation Shoebox treats every hero with care and honor.

A list of needs from our deployed troops is downloadable on this webpage. You can donate in designated boxes on the parish house’s first floor. We are also requesting $10 donations for shipping costs (which can also be made by our boxes). On our final EYC meeting this year (Dec. 10), we will be packing boxes to ship. If you have any questions, please email our Youth minister, Aaron Ross (Aross@vts.edu). Thank you, and Merry Christmas!

  • Pohick, in the season of giving, we are also supporting the Salvation Army Angel Tree program!

Downstairs in the common room, you will find a Christmas Tree full of needs from kids within our community. We are asking for twenty kids to be sponsored. Tags are provided with information about gift wishes, and you can buy one or all the gifts based on your discretion. You have two options for drop-offs: drop them off at Pohick church by Dec 5th, and our youth minister will drop them off for you, or drop off the gifts by Dec 6th at 4915 Ox Road, Fairfax, VA 22030. Thank you for your generous giving!
