The Pohick EYC youth program consists of three youth groups for different ages: 5th & 6th grades, Junior High, and Senior High. They participate in weekly meetings focusing on building healthy Christian relationships and nurturing their spiritual life. Additionally, the youth participate in service projects, trips, retreats, and other various local and national community projects. The usual meeting time is on Sunday evenings in the Parish House, but during the current pandemic, EYC meetings are virtual. There are over 30 youth currently active in EYC and anyone in grades 5th-12th is welcome.
Activities and Events
During the school year, regular EYC meetings occur on Zoom from 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm on most Sundays. If you are interested in discovering the excitement of EYC, please contact the Youth Minister for the Sunday meeting Zoom link. Holidays and other events sometimes cause this general pattern to be different, so check the church calendar for updates.
On July 11-17, 2021, youth in grades 9-12 will be heading to Wilmington, Delaware for our summer mission trip to minister to people in the community. Read about a past mission trip at Patch.com!
Pohick’s Youth Minister, Rusty Booth, and a staff of dedicated advisors develop the programming as well as provide spiritual guidance to the youth.
High school seniors can apply for the Robert and Bernice Kilmarx & Anne Powell Scholarship, which each June awards a $2,000 grant for post-secondary education to up to three youth who are currently active in Pohick’s youth programs. Applications accepted from March 1st to April 30th. The Scholarship fund was started from bequests of the Kilmarx and Powell Estates and is now completely funded by donations. Please prayerfully consider donating to the Scholarship Fund. All proceeds benefit the fund.
