SAR FAIRFAX RESOLVES EVENT
JULY 19· The Fairfax Resolves Chapter of the Virginia Sons of the American Revolution will hold its annual commemoration of the adoption of the Fairfax Resolves on Saturday, July 19 at 2:00pm at the historic Pohick Church, 9301 Richmond Hwy, Lorton, Virginia.
The Fairfax Resolves were adopted on July 18, 1774 at the behest of George Washington and primarily authored by George Mason. The Resolves rejected the British Parliament's claim of supreme authority over the American colonies and were considered the most detailed, the most influential, and the most radical of resolutions adopted at that time.
The event will include ‘1st hand accounts’ by reenactors portraying George Washington, George Mason and Rev Lee Massey, all signors of the Fairfax Resolves.
