Reading the Bible Through the Lens of Conflict

A five-week Bible study by Pádraig Ó Tuama

Tuesday Evenings, August 4 – September 1 • 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Meeting via Zoom (details below)

This five- week bible study course uses Reading the Bible Through the Lens of Conflict with Pádraig Ó Tuama as a jumping off point for weekly discussion/reflection. The spirituality of conflict, as defined by Ó Tuama, centers on the question: “Where does the gospel infuse and inform the way that we respond to conflicts?”

Ó Tuama notes that “a spirituality of conflict seeks to open up the space to discuss conflict and apply spirituality to conflict because understanding conflict is a way of understanding our humanity…it helps people learn how to experience tension.” Ó Tuama emphasizes studying and reading the gospels in light of conflict, which provides us an opportunity to “live our lives in conversation with the text” as we explore different conflicts and responses. The goal is to “find a productive, fruitful relationship with conflicts in our lives.”

Pádraig Ó Tuama is a poet, theologian, and public speaker. He founded a project he calls Spirituality of Conflict. He is the author of In the Shelter: Finding a Home in the World.

This interactive bible study program is facilitated by Marleen McCabe and co-facilitated by The Rev. Dr. Lynn Ronaldi.
