Historic Pohick Episcopal Church, a joyful, warm, and vibrant program-size church in Northern Virginia, is searching for an ordained Episcopal priest with a passion for evangelism, young adult/family ministry, and Christian formation. Ideally the Assistant will have at least two years of experience in a parish setting. Ordained seminary graduates demonstrating strong gifts in these areas may also be considered. Reporting to the Priest in Charge, the Assistant will be responsible for the following programs: Invite, Welcome, Connect (Evangelism/Newcomers Ministry); 20’s and 30s Ministry; Military Family Ministry; Alpha, and small groups. The Assistant will share equally in the Sunday and Wednesday rotas for liturgy, preaching, and teaching. The Assistant will also work with the Priest in Charge in strategic planning and innovative program development. Completed in 1774, Pohick was the home church of the George Washington and George Mason families, among other colonial leaders. Located a few miles from both Mount Vernon and Gunston Hall, we celebrate our historic roots as well as our current, creative leadership. Pohick is a solid, healthy, and moderate faith community balanced in contemplation and action. Hallmarks of our communal life include hospitality, fellowship, outreach, prayer, study, and pastoral care (Community of Hope).
